Types of appointments
- 20% of our appointments are available for pre-booking up to two weeks in advance.
- 10% of appointments are reserved for the doctor to review any patients needing follow up.
- 70% of appointments become available on the day.
The surgery receptionists are available to speak to face to face, from 8am until 6:30pm.
Waiting times
Surgeries and clinics will normally start on time. We expect patients to be seen within 30 minutes of their appointment time, and in the event of a delay we will offer an explanation. When a doctor is called away on an emergency we will inform the patients and give them the opportunity to book an alternative appointment or, if preferred, to be seen by another doctor.
Speaking to a doctor or nurse during surgery opening hours
If you need to speak to a doctor or nurse and the clinician is not consulting, your call will be put through to the clinician. If the clinician has begun surgery, you will be advised of the time when he/she should have finished seeing patients and to ring at that time.
If you ring again and the clinician is still not available to take the call, the receptionist will give your telephone number to the clinician to ring you as soon as they are free to do so.
Missed appointments
By not attending booked appointments we are unable to offer this appointment to somebody who may need it. Poplars Surgery has a policy that if a patient misses three appointments in a one year period without contacting the surgery, they will be removed from our practice list and will need to register elsewhere.
